Better Change to promote Positive Play at Racing League
Racing League are showing their commitment to safer gambling by partnering with Better Change to bring Positive Play to their fixture at Wolverhampton on 7th September.
Better Change are an organisation focused on preventing gambling harm by promoting positive behaviours and representing the needs of the majority of people who enjoy gambling safely.
Representatives of Better Change will be in attendance at the Wolverhampton fixture to engage with racing fans around all things betting, providing support and advice to help people get the most out of their racing experience, as well as providing access to help for anyone who may have a concern around gambling. Better Change will also be providing an opportunity for racegoers to have their say on the current relationship between racing and betting which you can contribute to through this questionnaire.
Better Change Engagement Director, Rob Mabbett added: “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with the Racing League. It is a great innovation and adds a new dimension of excitement to horse racing. We believe our fan engagement project is a great accompaniment to the event and gives racegoers the opportunity to speak with likeminded people about their gambling. We will be talking about safer gambling of course but in a positive and empowering way as opposed to being negative and restrictive, after all we enjoy racing and betting too!
For too long we have seen gambling being demonised through negative campaigns and political lobbying, the consequences of these actions are not only detrimental to those who regularly gamble through the imposing of unnecessary restrictions and intrusive financial checks but also stigmatising for those who might need help, potentially preventing them from accessing support.”
