Great Yarmouth Racecourse is a stunning and historic racing venue on the Norfolk coast. With horse racing taking place over the Summer season, this seaside venue has a lot to offer. Home to 23 flat race meetings; attracting top name jockeys, and up-and-coming two-year-old horses, some of which go on to compete and win valuable races as far afield as the USA and Brazil.

Location
The track is just a stone’s throw away from the sea and located between Great Yarmouth and Caister-on-Sea. Great Yarmouth railway station is approximately 1 mile from the Racecourse and serves mainline services via Norwich. The racecourse can be accessed easily via car and is just an hour drive from Norwich.
History
Great Yarmouth’s first events were recorded more than 300 years ago in 1715.
The original course was close to the Nelson’s Monument at South Denes. Its popularity was boosted by the coming of the railways, and it was moved to its current North Denes site in 1920 to make way for the then buoyant fishing industry.
Continual improvements to the track have included the new Lord Nelson Grandstand with bars, a restaurant and hospitality boxes.
The course at Yarmouth underwent extensive work in 2015 to level the home-straight and provide one of the best straight mile courses in the county.
Now a notable track for Maiden races, some exceptional horses have started their career at Yarmouth before going on to global stardom; seven-time Group 1-winning filly Ouija Board and Dubai World Cup Winner Dubai Millennium both won Yarmouth Maidens.
